Oil on Canvas Size: 90 x 90cm Framed: 93 x 93cm "Le Ciel - The Sky" is an original Oil painting by Janette Drysdale and part of the Pink Series. The blue sky fills the scene and it looks to be the perfect summer’s day. The crisp pink buildings look out to the beautiful turquoise waters of the sea. In the distance, there are mountains, an island, and crisp clouds on the horizon. The viewer is also able to catch a glimpse into the rooms of the pink buildings. The Palm tree is an imposing sight against the backdrop of the building. Looking up, the view can see the sunshade, ready for someone to soak up the sun, perhaps with a good book and an Aperol spritz. The shadows are cast by the tree, the building, and the balcony. A couple of flags blowing in the breeze suggest a cool breeze provides relief from the harsh sun. The simple, crisp scene conjures thoughts of a more simple life.

Oil on Canvas Size: 90 x 90cm Framed: 93 x 93cm Janette Drysdale about this Artwork: While painting this, I often listened to the Phil Collins song “Paradise”. It’s actually a song about homelessness. Some of the lyrics really got to me: She calls out to the man on the street "Sir, can you help me? It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep. Is there somewhere you can tell me?" He walks on, doesn't look back - He pretends he can't hear her Starts to whistle as he crosses the street - Seems embarrassed to be there.
Proceeds of the Auction will go to Mission Australia. This artwork is not available for online Sale.

Janette Drysdale is a contemporary West Australian Artist. Painting with oil paints she uses shape, colour, light and perspective to give life to a simple scene. Each painting is created to capture a moment in time whereby the viewer can interpret the back story of the work or can project their own experience onto the painting.
The stories in Janette’s work can often be illuminated by her detailed placement of people, birds or objects within the scene.
Janette has a passion for combining pop art and realism.
The contrast between the blue sky and a crisp building, a coloured deck chair against a sunlit path are a couple of examples of everyday scenes that excite and drive her passion. To capture that moment on canvas in the way that the artist sees the world is her continuing aim in her painting career.
