Glow
by: Cameron Richards
Oil on Canvas Size: 110 x 110cm Framed: 124 x 124cm "Glow" is an original Oil painting by Cameron Richards and part of the Moment of Encounter Series. It portraits a Mauritian descent Girl. The artist was reflecting on the strong positive attributes of the model - work ethic, generosity and palpable openness the artist experienced when he meet her, holding an incredible connection to her faith, her family, her homeland and the history behind both of them. Richards looked further into Maurtius’ fascinating history, which like much of the world holds tragedy through the processes of colonization. Through the backdrop of her portrait you’ll find glimpses of this history, but more so depictions and symbols of the models beautifully diverse heritage and the pride she holds for them.
