Mother, Daughter, Sisters
by: Cameron Richards
Oil on Canvas Size: 110 x 110cm Framed: 124 x 124cm "Mother, Daughter, Sisters" is an original Oil painting by Cameron Richards and part of the Moment of Encounter Series. It portraits Hlambase - a Zambian Model who lives in Australia. The very happy and inclusive woman, whose energy is contagious. As the layers of her story were revealed there layed a longing. A longing for her sister who is living and working in Glasgow but cannot be visited due to COVID and a longing for her mother, who raised them both on her own, was the center of their worlds and passed away a few years ago. Hlambase looks very similar to her sister and was often asked if her mother was also her sister. The woman you see is both Hlambase, an ode to her closeness to her mother and her sister, but also the difficult reality that neither of them can be with her.
