This original oil painting by Andrew Tischler is a hyperrealist work by the American-Australian Artist. Tischler selected Wayne, a friend and photographer from Dunedin as a model, for the sheer presence he carries. Wayne's soulful eyes are deep and contemplative, worthy of painting, but the beard was definitely a strong focal point! Tischler is anticipating using Wayne as the model for a future biblical series where Wayne will be a stand-in for the Apostle, Paul. 
Tischler's goal for every painting is to create the illusion of a 3-dimensional form on a 2-dimensional surface, which he accomplishes with his understanding of tone, color, form, composition as well engaging textured surfaces built up.
