"La Mer - The Sea" is an original Oil painting by Janette Drysdale and part of the Pink Series.
The crisp pink buildings look out to the beautiful turquoise waters of the sea. The viewer’s perspective looks down to the white, sandy beach and to the expanse of the ocean. The waves gently break on the beach. In the distance, there are mountains, an island, and crisp clouds on the horizon. The sky is blue, and it looks to be the perfect summer’s day. The viewer is also able to catch a glimpse into the rooms of the pink buildings. The Palm tree is an imposing sight against the backdrop of the building. The sunshade is up, ready for someone to soak up the sun, perhaps with a good book and an Aperol spritz. The shadows are cast by the tree, the building, and the balcony. A couple of flags blowing in the breeze suggest a cool breeze provides relief from the harsh sun. The simple, crisp scene conjures thoughts of a more simple life.
